Royal Palace wasn’t always a palace, In the middle of the 17th century, it was built as Amsterdam’s city hall. It is composed of yellow color sandstone from Bendheim in Germany. It was believed to be the largest building in Europe at that time. In 1806, Louis Napoleon changed the building into a palace.
